Mulberry Childcare – A brief history of us

Mulberry Childcare was founded in 2013 by Liz and Derek Leahy who also brought along their first two customers in their children Odhran and Niamh. Liz had extensive experience in childcare having setup multiple childcare centres for Bright Horizons the worlds largest childcare provider. Mulberry grew very quickly and expanded significantly over the years so did Liz and Derek’s family now growing to four children with the addition of Cillian and Fiadh.

Heartbreakingly Liz was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2020 and to all our devastation passed away eight months later leaving Derek, their four children and Mulberry behind. Liz’s passing left a massive hole in Mulberry and all our lives, we remember her gentle and kind nature, her booming beautiful laugh and the smile that greeted so many parents and kids over the years.

Mulberry continues on with Derek’s determination to continue Liz’s vision for providing child led, play based childcare in a fun friendly supportive environment. With the support of Lisa Casey as manager who was appointed by Liz, Kayla as deputy manager and all the excellent staff who support Mulberry everyday we will continue to grow and achieve great things for the little people in our care 🙂
